Mediterranean Echoes - 5:57pm

One impression too many.
And that’s how it all began.
Nico could have kept it to himself.
But he thought:
What if it was a sign? An opportunity to drift toward something else?
That’s the kind of thing he believes in—
a chance to add a new dimension,
a place, a feeling.

He thought of the Mediterranean coves,
of that light,
of that raw stone.

So he wanted a frame that would fuse with the artwork—
something heavy, almost mineral,
but with subtle reflections,
a stone-like, almost lunar effect.

A few days later, he visited his friend Sidney.
In his workshop, he came across Sydney’s latest piece:
a square of cast aluminum, poured directly onto the floor.

That was the spark. Quiet, but clear.
He shared his idea. Sidney understood immediately.

They got to work on the aluminum.
They melted it, gave it form.
Then, they polished it—slowly.
And assembled everything.

Then they inserted the artwork.
Permanently. Forever.
There was no way to take it out.

It had become one with the frame.
It had become something else.
A memory. An atmosphere.
